Cross-Pavement Gully Charging Trial – Expression of Interest

Helping Bristol residents without off-street parking to safely charge an electric vehicle (EV) at home.

Bristol City Council is trialling pavement-mounted gully channels that allow residents to run an EV charging cable safely beneath the pavement. This removes trip hazards and maintains accessibility. This landing page allows residents to submit an Expression of Interest to determine initial eligibility.

Bristol City Council will be seeking to use grant funding to support the cost of installations for residents (subject to approval). Installations will cost in the region of £2,000 – £6,000 per gully, and the entire cost will be met by the applicant.

Having a gully charging solution installed will not guarantee a reserved parking space on the public highway outside your home.

Who Can Apply?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Live in Bristol and normally park on-street outside your home
  • Own (or lease) an EV or have one on order within six months
  • Do not have off-street parking
  • Have a pavement outside your property
  • Agree to a technical survey
  • Accept that the installation is subject to Highways approval

How the Application Process Works
