Funding – Bright Green Homes

To support the delivery of low-carbon, energy efficiency and cost-saving measures for homes across the South West, Bristol City Leap is working with Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council and Bath and Northeast Somerset Council on the Bright Green Homes project.

Grant funding is now available and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and availability for the scheme is limited, so act fast to make sure you don’t miss out on this great opportunity! Due to the high level of interest we have received so far, applicants may not receive funding until year two of the project.

Our Bright Green Homes project will fund and support eligible households to install a range of insulation and low-carbon technologies, including:

  • Cavity Wall Insulation
  • Loft Insulation
  • Air Source Heat Pump
  • Solar PV
  • Window & Door Replacements
  • Ventilation Upgrades
  • Electric Storage Heaters

Our wide range of energy-saving measures is available to households who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Currently on Electric, Oil, LPG, Solid Fuel heating or Gas heated
  2. Energy Performance Certificate rating of G, F, E or D
  3. Live in Bristol City, North Somerset and Bath and Northeast Somerset Council area
  4. Annual household income of £36,000 or lower*
  5. The property must be occupied and furnished

*Please take note that if your home is in one of the two lowest-income postcodes on the Indices of Multiple Deprivation list, you do not need to meet the annual household income cap. You can check this here. Once you have entered your postcode, you will be able to download Excel or CSV data. You will see the Index of Multiple Deprivation Income Decile in Column H. If the value is 1 or 2, you automatically qualify for the scheme.

This scheme is not available to residents of social housing or temporary accommodations.

Once you’ve completed the questionnaire, our team will be in touch to confirm your eligibility for the project and discuss the next steps.

Funding Opportunities for Renters and Landlords

As well as owner-occupier properties, Privately Rented Properties (non-social housing) are allowed to apply for funding for energy improvements. However, please note that the financial eligibility criteria assessment will be undertaken on the tenants living in the property rather than the owner of the property (Landlord).

We would advise landlords to speak to their tenants before applying to understand their financial circumstances and overall household income (this would be income from all adults over 18 living in the property), and whether they meet the financial thresholds*

For eligible Private Rented Properties, we would be able to fully fund your first property, and any more properties would need a minimum 50% contribution from the building owner.

(Landlord Please Note – we are required to check directly with the funder whether any properties outside of our project area that you own have been fully funded, and if so, this would count as the first fully funded property.) If interested, please click the blue ‘Apply’ button above.
